Role Overview:
Reporting to Lancashire Cricket’s Financial Controller, this role is responsible for the prompt collection of all outstanding debts for both Lancashire County Cricket Club and Lancashire Cricket Foundation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess new customers’ creditworthiness using Dun & Bradstreet checks and set appropriate credit limits.
- Raise and distribute invoices promptly and accurately.
- Proactively chase due and overdue payments via phone and email.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure payments are received before events take place.
- Accurately post and allocate all customer payment receipts.
- Prepare and maintain cash collection forecasts and manage bad debt provisions.
- Resolve customer account and invoice queries efficiently to maintain accurate ledgers.
- Maintain the sales ledger, ensuring timely processing of unallocated cash, refunds, and write-offs.
- Refer problematic accounts for legal action when necessary.
- Support ad hoc finance duties including reconciliations, petty cash management, and month-end journals
Qualifications:
Technical
- At least 2 years of credit control experience
- Basic bookkeeping skills
- Good understanding of accounting systems (preferably NetSuite)
- Sound understanding of the workings and requirements of a busy sales ledger
- Understanding of the economic environment and its impact on the business
- Proficient in Microsoft office including excel, outlook and word
- Cash handling experience (preferred)
Relationship management
- Excellent communication skills with customers in terms of building rapport, credibility and trust.
- Good customer service skills including query resolution
- Building working relationships with key personnel across the business including being assertive, providing explanations, challenges & justifications as appropriate.
